regarding costumes, I thought the costume of Sardinia tradition (Italy), but I also think is a bad choice , because it is a traditional costume ... However there are many, from the most "elegant" to the most strange .if you want to give a look, this is a video (ok now you laugh at me :-) )

YES! That´s the perfect idea! Instead of training that spoils the knees and is painful we send him to a rhetoric seminar. :hi_hi_hi: Afterwards the jury will love him.

I would love to see him skating Village People’s ‘Go West’, dressed in a white captain outfit, with the hat on! Haha

Here’s a Pet Shop Boy’s version

I’ll convey the opinions of your Korean fan forum to you. Many of them may overlap with the opinions of the others, but I hope these opinions will be helpful to you. :ro_za:

1. The music

Common opinion :
Since you possess the most Russian style, we hope you’d make the most out of Russia’s great cultural heritage. There is no one else to express such dignified and magnificent pieces as dynamically as you. The music doesn’t necessarily have to be grandiose but a piece that contains Slavic sentiment, or imposing style(not necessarily Russian classic) will be adequate for your competition program.

Individual opinions and suggestions :
* Mozart : Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor, K.466
* Mozart : Piano Concerto No. 21 in C major, K.467 (for Gala)
* Grieg : Concerto for Piano and Orchestra in A minor, OP.16
* Rachmaninov : Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor, Op.18 ß Overlapped
* Rachmaninov : Piano Concerto No. 3 in D minor, Op.30 ß Overlapped
* Rachmaninov : Prelude Op.3 - 2 in C# miner (The bell of Moscow)
* Chopin : Etudes Op. 25 No.11 in A minor
* Beethoven : Piano Sonata No. 8 in C minor, Op. 13 ‘Pathetique'
* Beethoven : Piano Sonata No. 23 in F minor, Op. 57 ‘Appassionata'
* Brahms : Variation on a theme by Paganini, Op. 35
* Schubert : Symphony No.8 ‘Unfinished’
* Bach : Chaconne In D Minor BWV 1004
* Tchaikovsky : Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 35 - 1. Allegro Moderato ß Overlapped
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFaq9kTlcaY
* Saint-Saens, Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso. Op28 ß Overlapped
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-HQyXWkABo0
* Chopin : Ballade No.1 Op.23 (Ballet:The lady of Camellias)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zj2B8XcX_u4
* Piazzolla, Suite del Angel - Resurrection del Angel
* Vivaldi, Op. 8, No. 1-4 The Four Seasons - Winter
* Faure : Pavane, Op 50 (for Gala)

* lynda Cullen : To the west sky
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sXJFbI-gL4
* Beatmania IIDX 11th RED (DJ.WAC): ‘The flame of Scorpius’
http://blog.naver.com/wvvwvwwv/20102464833
* ‘Piano’ OST : http://tvpot.daum.net/clip/ClipViewByVi ... tDCkuW0-w$
* ‘Exodus’ OST : http://tvpot.daum.net/clip/ClipView.do?clipid=6755956
* ‘Phantom of the Opera’ OST (for Gala)
* ‘Schindler’s List’ OST, John Williams- Theme From Schindler's List
* Musical ‘Mozart’ OST
* ‘El Laberinto Del Fauno’ OST :
The Fairy Tale and The Labyrinth - Javier Navarrete
Ofelia - Javier Navarrete - Javier Navarrete
Mixing two pieces above will be good. The mixture of climax in those pieces would be dramatic…. Also, adding brisk, fast-beat music for steps in the middle of them will be quite nice!!!

* I was startled watching this season’s OG gala show. Chansons such as Édith Piaf would also be nice if it’s Zhenya the Tsar.

* Beethoven, [Egmont Overture]
This is a quite large-scaled music that expresses strong will and craving for victory. The unyielding character of Beethoven who eventually creates the ultimate masterpiece, that message this music conveys, and the grandness of the music itself-they won’t come alive unless it’s you, Zhenya, skating along Egmont Overture!

* Because of that very reason I have indeed considered Beethoven, [Piano Concerto No.5 in Eb major, Op.73 'Emperor']as well... :mi_ga_et: My heart throbs just thinking about Tsar bringing everyone to their knees by making appearance with this music!! But would this be sort of unsuitable to express in figure skating?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2E8bhDHESk

* For gala show, Gabriel-Urbain Faure, [Pavane, Op 50]
If you skate along this music beneath the darkened stage illumination for gala show, it would be beautiful, solemn and heroic as a maestro’s picture…J
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2bYmnWvFKo

* Also for gala show, Michael Nyman, "The heart asks pleasure first(From the movie 'The Piano')"
It’s an OST from “Piano”. This piece has somewhat nihilistic, ephemeral quality to it that we’re kind of doubtful whether it would suit Zhenya. But since you are capable of expressing almost any sentiment of music, I dare to expect the banquet of delicate, fluid linear movements if you skate along this one.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dPS-EHl-FE

* Editing Russian classic concerto, reserved pieces from the Romantic school such as pieces of Brahms or Wagner, or Baroque Classic also would be nice. Go for a pipe organ music! If it has to be a modern music I suggest the pieces of the crossover group that especially excels in producing grand music like E.S. Posthumus - tragic, sublime, and intoxicatingly ruthless songs. You don’t need any feigned sweetness.
Although in gala show, I hope to see you skate along a very romantic music for once. I often wonder what it’d be like if you choose ‘Romeo&Juliet’for a gala show.

- I would like to see your work based on ‘Evegeni Onegin’ motive. The music doesn’t matter much if it’s opera or ballet. This is a very Russian concept and if you play it haughtily I believe it will suit you perfectly and be very much brilliant.

- Solemn music(such as "The Bell")is considered to go quite well with you but one of these may be a pleasant try :
* “Tank” in Cowboy bebop OST or Rush (Kanno Yoko)
* Although you chose a tango music for this season – Piazzolla’s Libertango
* Bach : Six suite for solo cello
* Tchaikovsky : Swan lake (Role of Siegfried prince would be perfect)

* You can choose anything among the work of Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Mussorgky, Rimsky Korsakov. Prokofiev, Stravinsky, Shostakovich, Khachaturian, Kabalevskii or Glazunov.

* Among Sergei Trofanov(who is famous for Gypsy music)’s Gypsy music series album, there will be pieces that also suit you. With the Russian Gypsy style music such as Moldova, Russian Gypsy, Adios, Czardas, I dream of a 17-year-old boy in‘Dark Eyes’finally turning into a Gypsy King as a grown-up.
* Sergei Trofanov, album Gypsy Passion I,II / Gypsy Diary / Gypsy Voyage / Gypsy Voice
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6k8dkWndUs

To some prejudiced people, Russia may be a gloomy and somewhat formidable country. But I know it actually is a time-honored country of culture and art. Just imagining you bringing that vastness of Russian field and the spirit of Slav come to life makes my heart beat.

2. Recommendation of Choreography & Choreographer

Consensus of public opinion:
-To bring out your inborn graceful movement, a choreography with classic style would be suitable.
-The most frequently mentioned choreographers in our forum are Yury Smekarov, Sergei Petukhov and Tatiana Tarasova.
- To add more, there are Pasquale Camerlengo, Kenji Miyamoto, Tom Diskson (Only when it comes to SP), David Wilson. The cooperation among a choreographer that can bring out the Russian style and a choreographer adapted to COP would be the best.

Individual suggestions :
-Assign the choreography AND the music editing work together, to a new choreographer.. especially a choreographer who is adapted to COP. Please try skating according the choreography from COP choreographer without much revision at first.

- I hope to see again the intense stepped choreography like that of‘ ‘Godfather’. Make people(who have been unaware of your step skills) admire just witnessing your step sequence!

- In a gala show, I also want to see the exquisitely controlled steps like that of ‘Hafanana’. Although I like your peculiar steps, I also want to see you use the deep-edged step sequence according to the trend nowadays.

- A modern ballet team such as Todes may inspire you...I wonder what it’d be like if Ms Alla Duhova produces Zhenya’s choreography.

- Since the grandiose music style suits you, I’d prefer it if it is expressed like a beautiful ballet. In case it becomes languish, fast beats for fast steps need to be added. Languish to excess? I wouldn’t like that.
I would definitely go for a choreographer adapted to COP, and Yury Smekarov also comes up in my mind for suggestion.

- You can skate along any music, so it’s easy and difficult at the same time to make choreography for a skater like you. I hope for a ‘grown-up choreography’ that satisfies the COP and at the same time presents your peculiar ballet-like elegance and suffocating charisma. Especially the beautifully moderated movement and the dignified transition need to stand out… You are a skater who knows how to make the most of ‘the beauty of vacant space’ and ‘beauty of moderation’to the utmost. If only you can make your peculiar ‘stormy movement using footwork’ while using all your body parts according to COP standard in step sequence….
Plus, your inside spread eagle or spiral –if only in gala show- would be such an eyecandy for me. Although I’m well aware that spiral for transition in sliding period won’t be of much help to high score. Q.Q

-Being a COP adapter is by far an important trait, and most of all I want a choreographer who is capable of producing artistic movement that really suits the music you choose.
(Or I’ll just scream out ‘Yuri Smekarov’! :P)
Choosing Yury, Petukhov, or just North American choreographer who are experts in the new judging system according to the COP…that’s up to you.
The Gala choreography that you produced was beautiful enough.

-Since I consider him capable of expressing abstract ideas, I hope he’d have a chance to plan a show based on the idea of ‘death and life’.

-Consistent and elegant long program. + Comical short program
I hope you’d express with consistence in given choreography and music tempo.
Your long limbs go better with elegant movement rather than fast movement.
Hopefully the step regulations (that would change from this June on) will help you express such tempo.
And I also hope there is a commercial and comic program – and Zhenya, you’re the only skater to perform it ideally.

-Yuri Smekarov comes up to my mind before all else, and although the recruiting chances are slim I cannot deny that Tatiana Tarasova is well-qualified. If we have to shift to North American Choreographer category, I personally believe David Wilson is a good COP adapter. Kenji Miyamoto or Pasquale Camerlengo is also desirable choreographer for Zhenya.

3. The costumes

- Tight, black definitely suits you! And clothings that fit tightly!
- Dark bluish green + Black combination will also match with sublime music.
- It would be wonderful to witness the black+gold combination. It may differ depending on which music you choose, but white ornaments instead of gold would be an interesting try.
- With mixture of somewhat suppressed colors, and adding on the glittering dark grayish ornaments, you’d be the only one to possess the ruthless, classic and regal image of a Tsar. Do become the merciless Tsar. Love your gloves, by the way!
- We liked your unitard costumes
- If you choose separated shirt, I hope it would be a blouse with a tinge of romanticism.

4. Other suggestions

- We absolutely love your flowing blond hair. Don’t cut it too short – except when it’s inevitable for the sake of choreography and style of music.
- We liked the curly hair when you took a series of pictures featuring as Evgeni Onegin.
- Staying healthy always comes foremost! Don’t just strain yourself disregarding your condition, especially towards the end of a competitive season. Taking care of your condition has become more important now.

We hope we are not asking too much to you, Zhenya. But what we genuinely want is your health and happiness. You stand out the most when you’re standing on ice. Thank you for coming back, as you had promised. That alone always makes us grateful to you.

Leticia, wow, thanks for that Pet Shop Boys "Go West" song!! I used to LOVE that song growing up, and I had totally forgotten about it, so it was great to listen to again! But the idea of Plushy skating to it - omg haha, b/c that song is such a GAY ANTHEM lol. Although I'm sure he probably doesn't have any hang-ups about that. It would definitely be hilarious to see the straight male figure skater skate to the gayest song ever. Well he did say he wanted a new image..... teehee

New image? OK!
But if he dances to such an anthem the mischievious snakes of rivals will be hissing on TV for days and days afterwards.... You don't want to feed the lions...

Priscilla, your suggestions are excellent, specially the part regarding the choreographer, the most important aspect in my opinion. Tarasova, Pascuale Camerlengo and David Wilson are great. And of course Yuri who can help him to bring back the classical russian style. :bra_vo:

Thank you Monica!

Well, I love the song, I think it would be a lot of fun and I honestly don’t see any problem with this idea. I’m aware that it’s a gay anthem, but what’s wrong? Everybody is allowed to appreciate the song and to have fun with it, even a straight skater and all his straight fans. He’s not gay, and even if he was, there wasn’t gonna be any problem with that. It could also be an homage to the gay community.

Besides that, any publicity is good publicity. Driving rivals crazy on TV is obviously success.

Of course there would be no problem. We admire an artist-athlete for his artistry, for his work, not for his personal life or his sexual preferences. No one is homophobic here.
But...the media are often carnivorous, and it's a good thing to be able to make CHOICES as to how you are being portrayed and what type of publicity you receive. It's those choices that follow you for a long time.
Anyway, Evgeni as I've written before, is a cool type and very much a chameleon (doll phrased it properly as chameleon), so whatever he dances....he'll be great and ultra-cool!!
