I read somewhere on twitter, that shooting on Beijing show was prohibited - is this true? :plush38: :-(

It is always not recommended to shoot during performances (everywhere), but the security is not that tight. Many people brought cameras to watch the shows.

Today we rehearsed and I just watched practice. Maybe I am old school, or just old, but I have no clue how Skaters can jump when the lights are going all over the place and even sometimes turning completely off as well. Amazing really! It is a good cast. Plushenko looks good as does Johnny and it is exciting to think we will get to see them both compete again.

Nothing very interesting. Just saying that Plushy is in a very good mood and made some funny cute faces :hi_hi_hi: . And Plushy said he is excited to skate in Shanghai since this is his first visit to the city and he is also very happy to see his fans there. etc. :-)
There are also mistakes in the article by saying that Plushy will skate his new programs for the next season (actually he will skate the programs from the LAST SEASON). :ps_ih:

To be honest, in that post, there are quite some people cannot believe that Plushy got so many votes since he is apparently much superb than at least Dai and Lambiel :plush34: . But not all people post comments, they just vote. Plushy has too many "enemies" on that board, so he will be out at this round. :ze_le_ny:

Nevertheless, if Plushy is out against Dai and Lambiel, it can only mean that this poll is total nonsense, nobody should take it seriously :-)

Normal people will understand that this is ONLY show, program is still in development ... and he had broken boot. Real skating fans will wait competitions, to comment the progam...

Moreover, what is important what haters think now ? More important is what will judges think on the competition! ::yaz-yk:


Some of the people who don't like Plushy will pretty much repeat the same things, no matter what the actual program looks like. And it's always the same stuff, anyway; it has been the same for years. It doesn't matter that much. *shrugs*

But since now the cat's out of the bag :-) , I'll mention that I like the choice of music more and more, and clearly it is meaningful to Evgeni. I'll leave what the judges will think to the judges and experts (i. e. how COP friendly it is, and that sort of thing) and just say what I myself think....As a viewer, I can already get a sense of depth to it, even though it is of course still in a very preliminary stage. My hope is that this will have a chance, when fully developed and displayed to all advantage, to be a quite "spiritual" program, even if that kind of thing is considered completely unimportant to many figure skating "experts" nowadays....

For the Music choice, be to honest, at first I did not like it and thought comparing to the "prisoner" the contrast here is not enough (too short). But after watching the program couple of times I found myself start loving it.
The program itself apparently is still raw but the step sequence is really beautiful. The layout of the program from the 13th show seems more COP friendly than from the other days. Actually if one looks back to Plushy's earlier works, the lay out (jumps) were spread out nicely. But I guess it will depend on how Plushy would like to interpret the music. For the arm movement however, I found although they are beautiful but lack a little bit of variation. But again, judging from videos from different dates, his arm movements were not always the same so he is still experimenting. Therefore I keep hopes up that it will end up to be a very beautiful program :a_g_a:

OMG, so it is true that Mishin is not satisfied with J&R program :ny_tik: . I hope they will keep it and actively search for a great final to be able to use it. Dimi will be very disappointed :kli_ny:

I'm very, VERY disappointed. Mishin sacrificed a great program just because he didn't like the end? I thought it was only a rumor spread by haters. :plush27:
Saint Saen LP has potential but it seems that Russian choreographers are not able to create competitive programmes. Most of the programmes displayed during the test skating were depressing. :plush30:

Just wait and see. Besides, this new program has different inputs from all four choreographers and Plushy, it has its potentials.

PS: Sergei choreographed moonlight and godfather which are masterpiece.

The style is outdated IMHO and it lacks transitions. Artur's SP is better, even it can be compared to Chan's, Dai's or Abbott's programmes. Evgeni could keep this program if Mishin and him like it and ask a good choreographer to add some strong content. It's not rocket science, for God's sake, if Russian's choreographers have no inspiration, youtube is full of good programmes. :ne_vi_del: :kli_ny:
You simply can't drop a good programme just because it doesn't have a glorious ending! :ny_tik:

I do not like Chan's programs at all. Dai's is OK for me but not all the time. Abbott's program also could not touch my heart. So it is really taste thing. The only thing you might say to those programs is that they are COP friendly programs, with artistry appreciated by certain people. Artistry part goes also for Plushy's programs since we know how many haters out there claiming they feel nothing from Plushy's programs.

You could not say that Tchaikovsky's music is out of date because now people like to hear lady GAGA. And ballet style to me is really more beautiful and elegant than Jazz and so called modern dancing. They are not out dated art, just not appeal to certain people.

And yes, youtube is full of good programs. Maybe that is why people continue removing Plushy's ones from youtube, because they are TOOOOO BAAAAAD :ps_ih: (OK, their reason is copyright issue, but why other skater's programs are still there?)

Just as a joke and also because of the names of the music for this program, I have imagined the following story: :-)

At the beginning is a beautiful swan who is very alive ,energetic (jumps around :hi_hi_hi: ;D), then the Swan starts to swim elegantly on the lake until it got shot. The dying swan (or dead swan) is finally transformed into a fierce spirit fighting for its freedom :du_el: . So in the end it is a very proud swan spirit showing that "even I am dead, I am happy and free :ya_hoo_oo: ".

In Plushy's version - Swan did not die, than after the stabbing is turned into eagle :-)

So, my version of stages in his "transformation": :son-ce:
1. little prepuberty Swan
2. beautiful, sentimental, gentle, in love Swan
3. fierce mature mighty seductive Eagle

Oh I have read "ugly duckling", but that is a swan not a duck, just when he was young, he was ugly (there are a couple of swans in the pond near where I use to live so I know how "ugly" the small ones are :-) And yes, swan is very strong, once I tried to feed a swan, he grabbed the bread using his beak from my hand very hard :hi_hi_hi:

Eagle is also fine with me;D I am not trying to argue that :smu:sche_nie:

I didn't realize there are people thinking Plushy is too old for Swan :kli_ny: . I mean one can say he is too old as the Romeo from the book, but Swan? That is new.

And since we are now talking about swans and eagles and phoenixes... :-) I took a look around online for the symbolism of swans, and one strange thing I just found out is that in the tradition of European alchemy (which in itself has been interpreted, for instance by Jung, as an allegory for psychological/spiritual transformation), the "White Swan", the "White Eagle", and the "Skeleton" (Danse Macabre, anyone?) are all symbols of one stage of the alchemical process called "Whitening", which (I think) can be interpreted as a kind of sublimation through death. The previous stage is called "Blackening", which is often symbolized by black birds such as the crow or the raven. There are other stages after Whitening, but at the final transformation, the symbol is indeed the Phoenix, reborn from the fire. So at least symbolically, a swan certainly can turn into both an eagle and a phoenix!

Sorry, my mind seems to work in some dubious ways...I am not suggesting at all that this is what Plushy and Mishin had in mind, or that this program is some sort of alchemical allegory! Just that I find it kind of curious that the swan is indeed traditionally a symbol of transformation, death and rebirth...
