Evgeni Plushenko wants "to fight to the very end" at the ISU European Figure Skating Championships in spite of battling a back injury. "I have a little problem with my back, but I will try my best. I have seven (European) titles and I'll try to get another one, but it will be hard", the 2006 Olympic Champion said at the opening press conference of the Championships in Zagreb on Tuesday. The Russian star is competing for the first time in Zagreb. "The organization is great, everything is great", he said. Asked whom he considers to be his toughest opponent,he answered: "Myself. I really want to compete with myself. I have a lot of experience, I have been competing for 20 years in the sport. There are many strong skaters here and good luck to them and good luck to myself"

#Euros2013 "Euros Flash" So far hanging banners is not allowed, if people put them up, they take them off. Maybe tomorrow the issue will be solved, they said, but not sure yet. We hope it will, because banners do help skaters to feel more "at home". Just like Tomáš mentioned in his recent interview.

Oh my God, he fell twice and failed to land a quad...that's awfully disappointing...I'm terribly worried about Evgeni's health! Let's hope he recovers and he's able to land at least one quad in the short tomorrow! Wish him all the best and lots of luck! Dear Zhenya try to keep steady, we are waiting for you!

Don't worry, at 2010 Euros he wasn't able to jump one single quad in practice before SP. In tcompetition he received +2 GOE for the 4T+3T. Evgeni simply knows how to put his act together when he takes the ice, that's the difference between him and other skaters.
I know he's able to win the 8th title, if he has quads, transitions and other tricks :plush34: and 4 jumps in the second part of the program, judges won't think twice before crowning him European Champion! :-) plush48

Plushy and Yana were returned early this morning via Vienna to St. Petersburg....

Couple of fans had a brief meeting with them at the airport, gave him our small gifts for Alexander and the two of them.
Plushy was sad and resigned :-( - we tried to console him, as much as we could. :plush36: He showed us a large wounds on the inside of the fingers of both hands, which he sustained during shoestring of skates before SP. :plush44:

He told us that he canceled all shows "Art on Ice", to be healed in Russia. He will only have shows in Russia in March and April (I forgot to ask him for Bucharest show - probably will be), and show in Japan - World Ice Prince and one in Italy (I do not know when exactly) .... Next season planned is his appearance at one Grand Prix (probably Cup of Russia), then Russian and European Championship 2014 ... so for now.

I do not know what more to write you - we are all still shaken and sad ... :plush34:

Video from the last training I can not upload - i put it today for the 3rd time :kli_ny: ... After that, I will put on YouTube and a short video from warmup before SP performance, if you're interested - but a few times I was so excited that I turn-off instead to turn-on the camera and vice versa.... :hi_hi_hi:

Hi girls,

I just got back from watching the pairs free program (after watching the men's short earlier) and realized the latest news of Plushy withdrawing. I wish wish wish him all the best in recovering and prepping for Sochi. This was the first time I saw him live in competition. Despite the problems he had, I was completely blown away. His skating is SUBLIME. It's clear from the moment he takes the ice for warm-ups that he has this radiant quality. He floats across the ice and moves with indescribable grace. Other skaters might execute an element with textbook completeness, but Plushy's elements are exquisite and the artistry and technique go so deep. His jumps are brilliant, he has energy flowing from head to foot in every pose that he holds, and even in his turns - which I gather tend to be his weaker aspect - you can feel the depth of focus and quality that he's working with. I completely understand why he sees his competition as being himself. He's on a different level. Media, fans and anyone can say whatever they like. When Plushy came on the ice, he was this light that filled my heart with inspiration. Some other skaters were very good (I particularly enjoyed Amodio) but I have to say that I felt a bit cold/bored/detached when Plushy was done. It's like the sun shone and then set. Genius is a beautiful thing and he is simply beautiful on ice.
